The Nightingale of India “Lata Mangeshkar” Left The World Saddened

Lata Mangeshkar is the legendary playback singer, also known as “Nightingale of India” who died on Sunday morning at the age of 92 in Mumbai.

She was battling Covid for the last 28 days. The demise of the legendary singer left everyone shocked across the country as well as in Pakistan especially. Moreover, Dr. Pratit Samdani shared the news of Lata Ji’s death to Media by saying,

“It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalization post #COVID19.”

The beloved singer had an extraordinary career of more than a century and she recorded thousands of songs especially in 28 languages. However, While talking to media in the past, she said that she never listened to her own songs as she found hundreds of faults in them. She was born in a family of performers as her father ran a theatre company so she grew up listening to songs.

“It so happened that once my father asked his shagird (disciple) to practice a raag while he finished some work. I was playing nearby  and suddenly a note of the raag that shagird was rendering, jarred. And the next minute, I was correcting him. When my father returned, he discovered a shagird in his own daughter.”

She said in an old interview,

The actress Shraddha Kapoor wrote a heartfelt letter on the demise of a singer where she said, 

“Lata-Ji’s demise is heartbreaking for me, as it is for millions the world over. In her vast range of songs, rendering the essence and beauty of India, generations found expression of their innermost emotions. A Bharat Ratna, Lata-Ji’s accomplishments will remain incomparable.”

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind said,

“I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerize people.”

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi shared his sorrow on the death of singer, 

“She has left us. The voice of a million centuries has left us .. her voice resounds now in the Heavens! Prayers for calm and peace.”

The Veteran Bollywood Actor, Amitabh Bachchan penned down a statement,

“Heartbroken, but blessed to have known & loved this incredible soul … Lata-Ji holds a place in our hearts that will never be taken by anyone else. That’s how profoundly she has impacted our lives with her music. May she rest in peace & light up the heavens with her brightness.”

The actor Anil Kapoor said, 

“Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Lata-Ji. Her melodious songs touched millions of people around the world. Thank you for all the music and the memories. My deepest condolences to the family & the loved ones.”

The former Indian Cricket Captain, Virat Kohli shared his deep grief towards Lata Ji,

Also, she had been nominated for The Guinness Book of Records as the most recorded artist. She recorded her last song ‘Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki’ to pay tribute to the Indian Army in 2019.

Lastly, thousands of people were gathered at the funeral of the beloved singer to pay tribute and see the last glimpse of her. The Indian Govt. announced the two-day mourning in respect of the singer. 

 “There will be no official entertainment,”

The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement,
